Event Description
It all started in 1974 when 16 cook teams got together to roast some goat in an effort to raise money for the Jaycees of McCulloch county. Yes, it was just your typical small town Texas cook off. We never could have imagined that it would become what it is today.

We now boast 206 cook teams with a 90+ team waiting list. Close to 13,000 attendees come from all over Texas and beyond. Over 5,700 pounds of goat are cooked each year in Brady, Texas, at Richard’s Park on Labor Day Weekend. We know what you’re thinking, “You’ve GOAT to be kidding me.” Nope. We’re not kidding.

And, it gets even better. Not only is this the biggest and longest running cook off of its kind, but it’s also fun for the whole family. Yes, Billy, Nanny, & the kids (otherwise known as Dad, Mom, & the children) can all enjoy a fun filled, activity packed weekend. With an arts & crafts fair, children’s games and activities, a Horseshoe & Washer pitching tournament, live music on Friday night and live music all day Saturday and Sunday, it’s a good times for all ages!
